2009 Quincy Community Health Day

The Tzu Chi Foundation, USA, Boston Service Center will hold its 6th annual free health event, 2009 Quincy Community Health Day, on Saturday, November 14th, 2009, from 10am to 3pm at North Quincy High School (316 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02171).

The Tzu Chi Foundation aims at promoting medical education and health care awareness to local communities. This year we will collaborate again with local medical facilities and resources in the Quincy area to serve local residents. With our joint efforts, we commit to provide valuable on-site medical services, health care information, post-event follow-ups, and referrals for long-term care as needed.

The services provided at the event will include (1) Flu vaccinations, (2) Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP), (3) Health screening including body temperature, height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, TB skin test and Hepatitis B screening, (4) Health consultation including internal medicine, dental health, vision care and Chinese Medicine, (5) Health information pertaining to health wellness, nutrition, medicine, social welfare, follow-up, long term care, and health care awareness seminars.

This event is open to the public, both walk-ins and pre-registered participants. There will be on-site interpreters who speak various languages to assist you. If you plan to walk in, please arrive before 1:30pm on the event day. A phone registration in advance is required if you plan to receive one of the following services: (1) Flu vaccinations, (2) Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP), (3) TB skin test, (4) Hepatitis B screening. We encourage anyone who is 18 and above to participate in all the services provided except the flu vaccination. To qualify for flu vaccinations, people must not be allergic to eggs, AND have one of the following conditions: (a) age 50 and/or above; (b) chronic disease; (c) immune system failure.

The Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) is only for ages 18 and up, and contains one of following conditions; (a) diabetes; (b) high blood pressure; (c) kidney disease; (d) family history of any of the previous mentioned diseases. For KEEP screening, please arrive 30 minutes earlier before your appointment time for filling the KEEP registration forms.

The Quincy Community Health Day is co-organized and sponsored by Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. and other local medical organizations, such as the National Kidney Foundation serving New England, Quincy Medical Center, Manet Community Health Center, Joslin Diabetes Center, South Cove Community Health Center, American Chinese Medical Center, P.C., Quincy Health Department and MA Department of Public Health.
